I was invited to the House of Lords last week to celebrate female entrepreneurship and International Women's Day 2019.
It was a real treat to leave the rainy studio for an afternoon of networking in the most incredible, historical surroundings where women are not usually in the majority!
Hosted by Lord Young of Graffham, a group of us - the F:Entrepreneur #ialso Top 100 - enjoyed speeches from Martha Lane Fox and f:Entrepreneur Director Michelle Ovens.
I was particulary keen to hear from Baroness Fox, founder of Last Minute, who has a huge portfolio of commitments and interests, and has overcome huge hurdles, even spending a year in hospital after a car accident.
The f:Entrepreneur #ialso Top 100 were selected as female entrepreneurs who inspire their peers and communities through their businesses and wider activities.
The goal of the campaign is to celebrate the dynamic and inspirational businesses led by women in the UK.
The #ialso tag highlights the fact that so many entrepreneurs (male and female) have many strings to their bows, and on the day I heard inspiring stories of women who run multiple projects - many running a charitable, mentoring or voluntary activities alongside their own business.
